Jesus Christ Comes First

Greetings everyone! Easter Essentials: From Resurrection to Pentecost continues today with the theme of Easter Fish. Today’s picture shows us ICHTHUS in the shape of the Greek letter alpha. This is the first letter of the alphabet. Two verses in the book of Revelation highlight the importance of the letter alpha. Revelation 1:8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty. Revelation 22:13 “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”

Today, let us consider Jesus as first. He is our first love (Revelation 2:4). He is the firstborn among the family of God (Romans 8:29). He is the first to rise from the dead (Colossians 1:18). Jesus is our Alpha, the Easter Fish. It starts with Jesus and the good news is that He starts with us first. Herein is love, not that we loved Him but He loved us (1 John 4:10). The primacy is on Jesus first.

Our activity today for Thursday May 14, 2020 is to write out 5 firsts you have celebrated because of Jesus Christ. It can be first time you accepted Christ, first time you became part of His church, first time you celebrated communion. These firsts are not only memorable but intended to remind us continually of who comes in first for us, namely our Lord Jesus Christ. Shalom!
